S1 Ep19 "Deus Ex Machina"

(started 5/20/10 00:10)

Boone and Locke are building a trebuchet in the forest (I know, I should be using the term "jungle" instead) to bust the hatch open. It doesn't work, but Locke finds himself with a huge shard of metal in his leg. It doesn't hurt. He apparently has no nerve endings whatsoever, as he can poke things straight into his flesh and burn the bottoms of his feet and he feels nada.

Swoosie Kurtz is his mother. Isn't she about five years older than Terry O'Quinn? But she "must" be older, because it's back when Locke had hair.

He was immaculately conceived. Of course he was.

It's Locke's turn to hallucinate. Boone is bloody. There's a plane overhead. Swoosie and her ratty fur coat are pointing to the sky in the jungle. Wait, it's a dream.

Kevin Tighe is his father. Great character actors in these roles! Loved him on "Murder One" years ago. But really, this guy just accepts that this stranger on his doorstep is his son and invites him hunting next weekend? Is this how Locke bacame the great adventurer, marksman & explorer?

Sawyer has headaches. It's got to be a too-mah. Then again, stay off the beach and away from the raft-building noise.

Locke & Boone in the jungle. They find a rosary bracelet and a a mummy in a tree wearing priestly vestments.

Boone needs glasses, not aspirin.

Locke isn't doing very well on his feet. He tells Boone about his pre-crash wheelchair predicament. They press on in their trek and find a plane. The same one from Locke's dream.

Of course Locke will give his newly found father a kidney.

Note to the writers - they don't allow transplant donor & recipient to be in the same hospital room. Don't they have technical advisors for tv shows? Writers NEVER get anything correct when it comes to transplant storylines. Gotta make it interesting, instead of real. Asshats. I'm supersensitive to transplant storylines - the only times I have ever written complaint letters to networks it has involved their heavy-handed and unbelievable treatment of the issue.

Locke's plane is full of heroin. Yes, keep it. It will come in handy for sure. Boone uses the radio but the plane dislodges from the trees and crashes to the ground. Locke's legs work again to save the bloody Boone from the interior of the Beechcraft.

Locke's legs seem to work again now that he's needed? Or is it that he's full of faith in the island again?

Locke got played by his father. That sucked. That's why I'm holding back on giving my kidney to my brother until the next time he needs one - I have to make sure he's worthy of my body part and won't split town or something. (Love you, brocephus.)

The writers are trying to make me like Locke. As he's pounding on the hatch and yelling in despair, the light comes on from within.
