I lost my job this week. Long story, but it mostly had to do with being held over for a week in Italy with the Iceland volcano drama last month and my boss being a vindictive nutball. There are other factors, but this is how it's played out. Don't worry, I'll be fine.
I came back from completing my termination paperwork and I find myself with some time on my hands. I can't file for State Unemployment benefits until my official termination date, which is on Friday (today is Wednesday 5/19/10.) What to do, what to do...
I have heard about "Lost" since it started but have never seen an episode. I've always stayed away from the discussions in this arena of pop-culture. I follow lots of other shows and and can definitely throw around the discourse, but just never got into this program.
Here is my challenge to myself: watch all 6 seasons before the finale airs on Sunday night. My friend Jamie urged me to write a blog, with a short commentary on each episode as I go. Let's see...
Just don't tell me what happens, ok?
Wish me luck.

Save yourself a few hours: 'Expose' and 'Stanger in a Strange Land' will have NO bearing on anything remotely connected to Sunday.
ReplyDeleteHowever...rewatch 'The Constant'. I think it's one of the most significant episodes of the entire series...and will be key to understanding 'Desmond'
And I've very sorry you had to sit through all the 'Walt' stuff. Seems like they never accounted for a kid growing up, and he's barely mentioned/dealt with after season 3.
Kiki WTF, she asked not to tell her anything about the show.
ReplyDeleteholy crap KIKI!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Bruce Willis was dead the entire time. ;p
ReplyDeleteDumbledore is a vampire.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
darth vader is locke's 2nd cousin
ReplyDeleteBizarre... I was laid off last year and did the same thing with seasons 1-5, but it took me a couple weeks. I hope you have a comfortable couch. I tell you what though, it's a good escape and will keep you from stressing on the job stuff too much. Enjoy yourself Kris. =)
ReplyDeleteI watched seasons 1-5 in two weeks too. The seasons really blur together eventually.
ReplyDeleteHey girl,
ReplyDeleteI've only read a few, but I plan to read 'em all when time permits. It's serving as a helpful reminder of lots of stuff that I've forgotten. Especially interesting has been the way that you've noticed "stuff" that the producers deliberately put in as clues that I missed on first viewing because I didn't understand their significance. Now that I do, I can go, "Oh yeah, they were telling us something there." Your observation skills are apparently better than mine! Keep up the good work.
Seriously, keep going. And if you don't quite make it. Record the finale, so you can watch it in order. I am loving the insights you have had so far.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. You are basically creating Lost Cliff's Notes. It's the perfect thing for people who would like to re-watch (again) but don't have the time. I salute you. <o
ReplyDeleteAs a huge Lost fan, I salute you! Also, Expose is one of my favourite episodes. Don't skip it!
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of the "Lost" phenomenon (without ever having seen a single episode) i salute you as well. Brilliant idea, i wish i had thought to try this as well.
